| Depending which browser you use, there are different ways to clear your browsing history. Clearing your browser history is a feature that will free up space on your computer as well as protect your privacy. Also, if you have a less than current web page that continues to display, it is possible that the page is “cached”. The only way sometimes to get the newer version of the page is to clear your cache. Listed below are some of the most popular browsers used today and instructions as to how to clear the cache and browsing history. Internet Explorer 6.x and 7.x Users browsing with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x and 7.x can delete their history files by clicking the "Tools" menu, "Internet Options", and clicking the "Delete Files" or "Delete" button. If users would like the added security benefit of clearing their browser cache each time the browser is closed, they can go to the "Advanced" tab and check the box next to "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" under the "Security" tab.
Internet Explorer 8 Clearing the browser history for Internet Explorer 8 is very simple. First, from the Safety menu, click Delete Browsing History. Then Check the box next to Temporary Internet files and History, and then click Delete. Firefox 3 Firefox 3 users can go to the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data, check off the box next to the Cache label, and then click Clear Private Data Now. Safari From the Safari menu, select Empty Cache. When prompted, click Empty to confirm that you want to empty the cache. Please note that clearing your cache and browsing history will usually delete any saved login information as well as saved preferences that you may have on certain sites. |
